Sexual Reproductive Health Workshop
In support of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education, The Makazi Foundation organized a Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Workshop to equip adolescents with accurate, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant information. Our goal was to empower young people to make informed decisions about their health and futures; shielding them from the lasting effects of poor SRH practices and the cycle of poverty
About the project
Starting point
Following the positive impact of our previous engagement at Blantyre Secondary School, Chiradzulu Secondary School reached out and invited us to help address pressing sexual and reproductive health challenges within their student body. The school had recognized the need for open, informed dialogue and trusted The Makazi Foundation to lead this critical conversation.
Support from local communities
In November 2022, we conducted a powerful SRH workshop that engaged over 300 students. The sessions were designed to foster awareness, challenge harmful norms, and create a safe space for questions and learning.
The feedback we received was both eye-opening and affirming—highlighting the depth of challenges faced by Malawian youth, particularly young girls, in relation to gender-based violence, limited access to reproductive health services, and misinformation.
We remain committed to ensuring that adolescents across Malawi have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to advocate for their health and make empowered choices about their bodies and futures.
