Mental Health Workshops

In line with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 3 'Good Health and Well-Being', one of our aims is to provide psychosocial support to the youth as a means of sheltering them from poverty.

About the project

Starting point

Between January and August of 2022, the police in Malawi reported 208 suicide cases, with 168 being male and 40 being female, indicating an increase from the same period last year when they reported 160 suicide cases. This is an average of 26 people committing suicide each passing month. This increase in the suicide rate encouraged us to find ways of proactively tackle the problem.

Support from local communities

In November 2022, we held a Mental Health Workshop at Blantyre Secondary School with Nditha Rehabilitation Centre and Let's Talk Mental Health Malawi. We were joined by approximately 300 teenagers and covered topics such as types of mental health conditions, causes, self-esteem, substance abuse and coping mechanisms.
