Sexual and Reproductive Health Workshop
On September 27th, 2024, the Makazi Foundation returned to Chiradzulu Secondary School to host an interactive and impactful session with Form 3 students, focusing on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH). This session built on a growing partnership between the Foundation and the school, which began in 2022 in response to rising concerns about student involvement in early sexual relationships.
About the project
Empowering Students Through Informed Choices
The core message of the session centered around the importance of abstinence and how individual choices directly affect a student’s ability to remain focused and successfully complete their education. Recognizing existing knowledge gaps around SRH, the Foundation invited a qualified medical practitioner to lead the session. The expert provided professional insights on:
Sexual and reproductive health best practices
HIV/AIDS prevention
Accessing youth-friendly health services
The importance of counseling and informed decision-making
Teacher Engagement and Continued Collaboration
Three Form Teachers attended the session and expressed their enthusiasm and support, emphasizing the need for more frequent and focused engagements with students on SRH and mental well-being. Their presence reinforced the importance of teacher involvement in ensuring consistent messaging and follow-up support within the school environment.
