Bangwe Men's Mental Health Workshop
Building on the momentum of its recent radio podcast series on men’s mental health, the Makazi Foundation deepened its outreach by hosting an interactive session with men and boys in Wisiki Village. This in-person dialogue aimed to break the silence surrounding mental health and foster a supportive environment for open conversation.
About the project
Community Engagement and Leadership Support
The session drew a strong turnout, including leaders from local Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), who play a vital role in shaping grassroots initiatives. Their active participation highlighted a shared commitment to improving mental health awareness at the community level.
One of the key outcomes of the discussion was the urgent call for greater involvement from influential community leaders; including politicians, pastors, and religious figures. Participants agreed that these leaders hold powerful platforms and should be at the forefront of advocating for mental well-being, helping to dismantle stigma and normalize conversations around mental health.
A Step Forward
This session marked a significant step in promoting inclusive mental health dialogue, particularly among men and boys who are often left out of such discussions. The Makazi Foundation remains committed to advancing mental health literacy and ensuring that no one suffers in silence.
